ROLE

Animator, Designer

Evolving Planet is a permanent exhibit at the Field Museum in Chicago. I was brought on to design and animate immersive media for two large-scale projections illustrating the Permian Extinction — one of the most significant extinction events in Earth’s history.

My role involved creating atmospheric 2D and 3D environments that depict both the lead-up to and aftermath of the Permian extinction event. Using Cinema 4D and After Effects, I developed procedural landscapes with toon shading to complement the paleo artist’s illustration style, integrated particle-driven lava simulations for the volcanic eruption, and crafted subtle transitions to evoke a sense of environmental collapse. The animations were designed with a cinematic, slow-moving rhythm that enhances the surrounding physical exhibit and deepens the visitor’s emotional experience.
